Awami League General Secretary and Road, Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said on Friday their party must win victory in the next parliament elections, reports BSS.

"We've earned love and affection of the common people through our development works. The people of the country are happy with the honesty and dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and there is no doubt that we will win in the next polls," he said, speaking at a function in front of Bangabandhu Bhaban in the city's Dhanmondi.

AL's Relief and Social Welfare Sub-Committee organised the function to distribute rickshaws and rickshaw-vans among distressed people, marking the 99th birthday of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

AL Organising Secretary AKM Enamul Haque Shamim, central committee member SM Kamal Hossain and AL Dhaka city south unit General Secretary Shahe Alam Murad, among others, addressed the function with Sub-Committee Chairman AFM Fakhrul Islam Munsi in the chair.

AL Relief and Social Welfare Secretary Sujit Roy Nandi conducted the function.

Obaidul Quader said BNP has become isolated from the common people because of its negative politics.

The people would reject BNP in the next elections as they (people) did not respond to any movement of the party.

He said BNP has been recognised as a terrorist organisation at home and abroad.

They (BNP) are now busy hatching conspiracies to foil the next general elections, he added.
