Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader opened on Wednesday two field hospitals for treatment of metro rail project's engineers, workers and employees infected with coronavirus, reports BSS.
"The initiative will help build confidence in engineers and workers and thus speed up the construction of the metro rail," he said.
The minister came up with the remarks while inaugurating the newly-constructed field hospitals through a video conferencing from his official residence in the city.
Two field hospitals-- one is a 14-bed hospital at Panchabati construction yard at Uttara and another 10-bed hospital at Gabtoli construction yard -- are equipped with all necessary facilities, including ICU. Such hospitals have been constructed for the first time in the country for a particular development project.
Obaidul Quader said the government has taken all-out steps including construction of hospitals for safety of the metro rail project engineers-workers thinking that Covid-19 pandemic could not cause any problem to the project work while the global health experts are anticipating further viral infections in the coming winter.
Quader urged the people to be more cautious over the fatalities of the virus as the viral infection could soar in the upcoming winter.
