RAB nab Imran over 'rally against anti-drug drive'

Members of Rapid Action Battillion (RAB) detained Ganajagaran Mancha spokesperson Imran H Sarkar from Shahbagh in the city on Wednesday afternoon, report agencies.
Witnesses said when Imran and his supporters were gathering in front of the National Museum for holding a rally around 4:30 pm protesting the killings in the ongoing anti-drug drive, members of the elite force picked him up.
The law enforcers dragged Imran into their van and dispersed his supporters.
Officer-in-charge of Shahbagh thana Abul Hossain said Imran H Sarker and his followers had no permission to hold any programme there.
RAB spokesman Mufti Mahmud Khan also said Imran was detained from Shahbagh on Wednesday afternoon.
"He was arrested on charges of organising an illegal gathering."
Reazul Alam Bhuiyan, one of the protest organisers, said Imran arrived in front of the National Museum at Shahbagh at 4:00 pm to join the scheduled programme.
