The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Sunday said it would arrest Awami League leaders Obaidul Quader and Jahangir Kabir Nanak, and former Dhaka city DB chief Harun-or-Rashid once they get specific information about them.
RAB director (media and legal wing) Lt Col Munim Ferdous disclosed this at a press briefing at the elite force's media centre at Karwanbazar in the capital.
The crime-busting force has already rounded up a good number of heavyweights, but crime combatants are yet to arrest the trio.
Asked about the development of their capture, Mr Ferdous replied, "Our work to arrest them is going on. Arrests will be made after getting specific information about them."
From August 05 to date, he said, the RAB arrested 1,070 persons for their reported involvement in killing students and people during the Anti-discrimination Student Movement in July-August 2024.
Of the arrestees, 39 were high officials of the ousted government, 15 involved in firing bullets on students and people during the anti-Hasina uprising.
The RAB official further said that they have been engaged in arresting persons, top politicians and high-level government officials alike, following allegations filed against them.
The RAB members have already recovered a huge haul of arms and ammunition.
Mr Ferdous called upon the public to supply relevant information to the RAB for taking required measures.
Cases were filed against a total of 90 police officials, according to him.
Asked whether any case was filed against any RAB official, he said, "No RAB member ran away or not a single RAB member didn't go on abstention after the political changeover."
