State Minister for Planning Zonayed Saki has dismissed claims of controversy surrounding the implementation of the July National Charter, reports bdnews24.com.

He said no 'fundamental dispute exists' over the Charter itself.

Speaking at a press conference at the Ganosanghati Andolon central office in the capital on Saturday, Saki acknowledged attempts are being made to trigger debates over the process of implementing the Charter.

The remarks follow an Opposition walkout from parliament on April 1, protesting what they described as a lack of remedy on their motion to convene the Constitution Reform Council to implement the Charter.

The following day, the Jamaat-e-Islami-led 11-party alliance announced plans for protest rallies and processions across Dhaka on Saturday.

"The July Charter was signed with the main focus on its implementation," Saki said.

"While parties have recorded notes of dissent, the consensus was that differences would be expressed through these notes.

"Political parties will present their positions to the public in their manifestos, and the view of the majority party will guide final decisions."

At the conference, he stepped down as chief coordinator of Ganosamhati Andolon, citing the difficulty of balancing government duties with party leadership.

He pledged loyalty to the party and will continue as a member of its political council and central committee.

Dewan Abdur Rashid Nilu will serve as acting chief coordinator until a new committee is formed on May 8.
