Salman, Anisul, Atiq on remand in different cases

A Dhaka court has placed four people, including Salman F Rahman, former private industry affairs adviser to ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, on different terms of remand in cases filed over crimes committed during the student-led July-August mass uprising, reports BSS.
The three others who were put on remand are former inspector general of police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, former acting mayor of Gazipur City Corporation (GCC) Md Asadur Rahman Kiron and general secretary of Dhaka University (DU) unit of banned Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) Tanvir Hasan Soikat.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate MA Azharul Islam passed the orders on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, another court has placed former law minister Anisul Huq and former Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) mayor Atiqul Islam on different terms of remand in two separate cases filed with Mohammadpur and Badda Police Stations respectively.
Of the two, Anisul was placed on a three-day remand in a case filed over the attempt to kill rickshaw-van puller Insan Ali in Mohammadpur area during the student-led July-August mass-uprising. Atiqul on the other hand, was placed on a four-day remand in the case lodged for killing Sohagh Miah in Badda area.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate MA Azharul Islam passed the orders as police produced them before the court and pleaded to place them on five-day and 10-day remand respectively in the two cases.
