Salman, ex-IGP Mamun sent to jail after remand

A Dhaka court on Saturday sent ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's adviser Salman F Rahman and former IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun to jail after their five-day remand in a case filed against them for shooting dead of a man named Jisan in Jatrabari's Matuail during the anti-discrimination student movement, reports BSS.
Police produced them before the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court after five days of remand and the investigation officer of the case, Jatrabari Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Kausar Hussain, applied for their detention in jail.
Following the plea, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Masuma Rahman ordered their detention in jail.
Earlier, on January 20, the court granted them a five-day remand in the case.
According to the case statement, during the anti-discrimination student movement on July 20, Jisan participated in the movement in Matuail under Jatrabari police station in the capital.
