A Dhaka court has indicted expelled Jubo League (JL) leader Ismail Hossain Chowdhury Samrat and his associate Enamul Haque Arman in a case filed with Ramna police station under the Narcotics Control Act, report agencies.
Judge of Dhaka 7th Additional Metropolitan and Session Judge Mohammad Saifur Rahman Majumdar framed charges against them and issued warrants for their arrest after rejecting their bail petitions on Thursday.
The court also fixed March 12 for the next hearing.
The lawyer of Samrat also filed a time petition citing his sickness.
On October 6, 2019, Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested Samrat and his associate Enamul Haque Arman from Chouddagram in Cumilla.
RAB raided his Kakrail office the next day. Huge quantities of foreign liquor, pistols, and two hides of kangaroo were seized from his office.
He was later sentenced by a mobile court to six months in prison under the Wildlife Conservation Act.
The RAB-1 lodged two complaints against Samrat with Ramna Police Station under the Arms and the Narcotics Acts. Arman was an accused in the narcotics case.
