SC directs CMM court to return Manna's passport for three months

The Supreme Court (SC) ordered on Monday the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court to return Nagorik Oikya Convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna's passport for three months, reports UNB.

Besides, the apex court ordered Manna to surrender the passport within three weeks after returning home.

A four-member Appellate Division (AD) bench led by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain passed the order following a petition filed by Manna in this regard.

On November 28, 2016 the AD upheld the High Court order that granted bail to Manna in two cases filed against him for sedition and instigating the army.

Separate cases were filed against Manna with Gulshan thana on charges of sedition and provoking the army on February 24 and March 5 respectively in 2015.

He was arrested on February 25, 2015 after two audio clips of his telephone conversations with BNP leader Sadeque Hossain Khoka and another unidentified man were leaked.
