Leaders of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) have demanded immediate removal of the 'controversial' judges from the lower and higher judiciary, who were 'the accomplices of the Sheikh Hasina-led fascist regime'.
They made the demand at a press conference at the SCBA auditorium in the capital.
SCBA President Barrister A M Mahbub Uddin Khokon spoke at the event, where its Acting General Secretary Barrister Mahfuzur Rahman Milon and the executive committee members were present.
The SCBA president said, "Another 5 August is ahead. However, the law ministry is yet to take any visible step to remove the controversial judges. The SCBA is demanding immediate removal of the controversial judges, both from the lower and higher judiciary, who acted as the puppets of the fascist regime. Otherwise, public trust on the judiciary will be broken."
He alleged that a section of the judges in the lower and higher judiciary, being loyal to the fascist regime, used to deliver verdicts and remand orders during the last one decade.
He urged the law ministry to prepare a list of those judges and to public it.
"The puppet judges are a big problem for the judiciary. No proceeding has yet been drawn against Justice Khairul Haque, who was the mastermind behind abolishing the caretaker government system from the Constitution. The Anti-quota Movement was also triggered by a High Court judgment, delivered by the controversial judges," he added.
