Six more prosecution witnesses have testified in three plot graft cases filed against deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina, her daughter Saima Wazed Putul, and son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, report agencies.

The cases focus on allegations of fraudulent allocation of a 30-katha plot in the Purbachal New Town Project.

Judge Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun of Dhaka's Special Judge Court recorded their statements on Tuesday, bringing the total number of witnesses to 18.

The witnesses for the day included Gautam Kumar Sikder, senior principal officer at the Gonobhaban branch of Sonali Bank; Md Shariful Islam, principal officer of the same branch; Rezaul Haque, stenographer-cum-computer operator at Tax Zone-6; Abu Taher, notice server at the same zone; Lutfar Rahman, tax inspector from Tax Zone Khulna and Delwar Hossain, office assistant at the Ministry of Housing and Public Works.

After hearing their statements, the court fixed September 17 for the next round of depositions, said ACC lawyer Md Sultan Mahmud.

He explained that under RAJUK regulations, anyone applying for a plot must submit an affidavit confirming that neither they nor any close blood relatives own property in RAJUK-designated areas of Dhaka or Narayanganj.

Joy and Putul, he said, submitted affidavits claiming no such properties existed in their names or in the names of their relatives.

The lawyer alleged that the information provided was false, enabling them to secure plots in the Purbachal New Town Project.

He further claimed that their mother Hasina "assisted" in facilitating the allocation.

"Their income tax records also show discrepancies," he said. "If the plots were purchased with undisclosed income, it would make them offenders."

Earlier on August 11, the three plaintiffs in the cases testified on the opening day of the trial.
