Speaker greets Sajeda Chy on her birthday

Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury on Wednesday greeted Awami League Presidium Member and Deputy Leader of the House Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury on her 84th birthday, reports BSS.

The Speaker greeted the veteran AL leader and close associate of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by presenting a bouquet at her (Sajeda's) residence in the city, said a press release.

Besides, JS Deputy Speaker Md Fazle Rabbi Miah also greeted Sajeda Chowdhury, the release added.

Talking to the newsmen, Speaker Shirin Sharmin said Sajeda Chowdhury is a veteran politician of the country. She has been working for welfare of the country's people throughout her life being imbued with the ideals of Bangabandhu.

Dr Chaudhury wished Sajeda Chowdhury's sound health and long life.

Sajeda Chowdhury, one of the organisers of Liberation War, came of a respectable Muslim family of Syed Shah Hamid Ullah and Syeda Achhia Khatun in Magura in 1935.

She joined Awami League in 1956. She served as the founding general secretary of Mahila Awami League from 1969-1975.

She was founding director of Kolkata Gobra Nursing Camp during the Liberation War.
