Sramik League leader held over murder during July uprising

Police have arrested a Sramik League leader for his alleged involvement in killing a shop employee during students' movement against discrimination in July 2024.
The arrestee was identified as Alamgir Hossain (45), a former general secretary of the city's Uttar Khan unit of Sramik League, an associate body of Awami League.
He is an accused in the case for killing of Abdul Qadir alias Manik during the anti-discrimination movement.
Abdul Qadir alias Manik was employed in a rod-cement shop at Uttara in the capital.
He had died after receiving bullet injuries to his head on August 5, 2024 while participating in students' movement against discrimination (uprising against fascist Sheikh Hasina) in Azampur area under Uttara East Police Station.
His wife Rahima Akter filed a murder case with Uttara East Police Station on August 26, 2024.
