Stand by activists affected during political upheaval

AL urges party leaders in FB post

Awami League (AL) has urged its leaders and activists in the country and abroad to stand beside its workers across the country, who have been affected by attacks, looting, arson and vandalism, reports UNB.

"The most important thing at this time is to stand by the distressed workers," the party urged in a status on its verified Facebook page.

It mentioned that around 50,000 grassroots workers have reported their dire situation through emails and messages.

"Specially they requested to save their families. Many people are unable to stay at home due to lawsuits and arrests," it added.

The AL said it has collected information from all over the country on attacks, massacres, looting, arson and vandalism on the party leaders and workers in the entire month of July-August and in the current month of September, which is still ongoing.

"Leaders and workers of Awami League and allied organisations came under attack in every district, metropolitans, upazila, union, and even hundreds of thousands of wards of the country, all they have has been looted by BNP-Jamaat terrorists," the FB status alleged.

It mentioned that there are 5 to 10 false cases against each leader-activist at the metropolitan and district-upazila levels.

The AL said those who want to stand by the distressed leaders and workers from the country or abroad can contact by email or WhatsApp.

"We will provide information to you."

The email id is [email protected] while the WhatsApp number is +1 (917) 569-9327.

The political party, which was ousted by a student-led upsurge on August 5, also thanked to those who are supporting the workers in their respective areas from the country or abroad.
