SUST expels Badrul for attack on Khadiza

SYLHET. Oct 23: The authorities of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) expelled on Sunday Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leader Badrul Alam for hacking Khadija Aktar Nargis, a student of Sylhet Government Women's College.

The decision was taken at a syndicate meeting of SUST after getting report of the three-member committee formed to investigate the incident, said Prof Kabir Hossain, a syndicate member.

Badrul got admitted to Economics Department of the university in the academic year 2008-2009 and later became irregular.

Following countrywide protests against the brutal incident, the university authorities on October 04 suspended Badrul Alam for attacking and hacking Khadija.

Khadija's uncle filed a case with Shahporan thana in connection with incident the following day.

She is undergoing treatment at a hospital in the capital and showing signs of improving.

Meanwhile, Badrul was produced before a court that sent him to jail again on Sunday. Earlier, he gave confessional statement before the magistrate court on October 05.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) Zedan Al Musa said police will submit charge-sheet in the sensational case soon.
