Swapon pledges all-out support for dev of women journos

Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon has assured all possible support for the development and advancement of women journalists, , reports BSS.

He made the remarks while speaking at a meeting with a delegation from the Bangladesh Women Journalists Forum (BWJF) called on him at his office on Thursday.

During the meeting, the minister discussed the protection of the professional dignity of women journalists, the enhancement of their skills, and the improvement of professional standards.

He emphasised the importance of building networks for women journalists at regional, national, and international levels.

The minister also highlighted the need to organise research, meetings, seminars, and workshops on the participation of women in media, expressing his readiness to support such initiatives.

BWJF Adviser Momtaz Bilkis Banu led the six-member delegation. Other members included Vice President Ayesha Parveen (Junan Nashit), Treasurer Shahnaz Begum Poly, Organising Secretary Masuda Sultana, and members Shirin Sultana and Mashreka Mona.
