Tarique Rahman to deliver speech tomorrow

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Standing Committee Member Dr A Z M Jahid Hossain has said the party's Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman will deliver a new speech for building the country at a rally at Naya Paltan in the capital tomorrow (Sunday), marking International Day of Democracy.

He disclosed this on FRiday while speaking to the media after a joint meeting on preparations of the party's programme today (Saturday) and tomorrow (Sunday).

"The leaders and activists of Awami League, after assuming power by Sheikh Hasina, had looted the country's resources like their paternal property," he said.

He said the Awami League arranged elections in 2014 without voters, stuffed ballot boxes on the night before the day of election in 2018 and staged a dummy election in 2024.

"Awami League has killed democracy and politicised all government institutions," he said.

BNP vice-chairman Dr Asaduzzaman Ripon, adviser to the party chairperson Aman Ullah Aman were present, among others.
