Tax files of ex-MP Didarul seized

A Dhaka court has ordered to seize tax files of former Chattogram-4 lawmaker Didarul Alam, over graft charges, reports BSS.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz passed the order on Monday, allowing a plea filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
The application stated that the ACC filed a case against Didarul Alam on charges of criminal misconduct, abuse of power and acquiring and possessing illegal assets worth Tk 139.8 million.
It said the accused, Didarul Alam (57), is an income taxpayer. For the sake of a proper investigation into assets disproportionate to his known income, it is necessary to seize all relevant income tax documents, including the permanent and miscellaneous sections, from the beginning up to the 2024-25 tax year.
