Ten, including six ex-ministers, on fresh remand

A Dhaka court has placed 10 people, including six former ministers of the Awami League (AL) government, on different terms of remand, reports bdnews24.com.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate MA Azharul Islam issued the order after a hearing on Wednesday.
The accused who were placed on remand are former information minister Hasanul Haq Inu, former social welfare minister Rashed Khan Menon, former law minister Anisul Huq, former state minister for industries Kamal Ahmed Majumder, former civil aviation and tourism minister Faruk Khan, former state minister for Chattogram Hill Tracts affairs Dipankar Talukder, former superintendent of police Tanveer Salehin Emon, former Bangladesh Chhatra League joint general secretary Benazir Hossain Nishi, and two other activists of the banned organisation identified by single names - Kausar and Ramzan.
Public Prosecutor Omar Faruq Faruqi of the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court confirmed the details.
Among them, Faruk Khan, Inu and Menon have been remanded for five days each in an attempt-to-murder case filed with Motijheel Police Station over the 2015 attack on BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's convoy, Anisul in the lawsuit over the murder of National Institute of Engineering and Technology student Abdullah Al Mahin, Kamal over Anwar Hossain Patwary's murder in Mirpur, and Dipankar over Juba Dal leader Shamim's murder.
The court placed Tanveer on a seven-day remand. Earlier on February 11 a team of the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested him from the Sarda Police Academy.
Nishi, Kausar and Ramzan were placed on a five-day remand each in Abdul Wadud murder case.
In addition, former state minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak and ex-minister Mosharraf Hossain have been shown arrested in cases filed with Paltan Police Station.
