Three people sustained burn injuries in a petrol bomb attack on a procession of AL allegedly by some BNP activists during electioneering at Jahanabad in Sitakunda upazila of Chattogram on Tuesday, report agencies.

The injured are Abu Salek, Mohammad Raihan and Taiab Uddin.

Witnesses said the activists of local unit AL brought out a procession in the area around 11:00 am and at the same time the BNP activists also brought out a procession.

When the processions of both parties reached Chairman Ghata Member Bari area, a petrol bomb was hurled at the procession of AL, leaving three people burn injured.

The injured were taken to the burn unit of the Chattogram Medical College Hospital, said assistant sub-inspector AlauddinTalukdar of Chattogram Medical College Hospital outpost.

A chase and counter-chase took place between the activists of the two parties, leaving 15 people injured.

Meanwhile, at least 10 journalists were injured and 16 vehicles carrying them vandalised as some unidentified miscreants attacked them at a rest house in Kolakopa of Nawabganj upazila of Keraniganj on Monday night.

A total of 30 journalists of the Dainik Jugantar and Jamuna Television boarded 'Shamim Guest House' in the upazila to cover electioneering of the upcoming 11th national elections for Dhaka-1 constituency, said Azharul Haque, staff reporter of the daily.

A gang of miscreants suddenly started vandalising vehicles of the media houses parked in front of the guest house at around 10:30 pm, he said.

Meanwhile, Shamim Khan, Dhamrai correspondent of Jugantor, has been missing since the incident, Azharul alleged.

In Sunamganj, a case has been filed against 85 people in connection with an arson attack on an election campaign office of grand alliance candidate for Sunamganj-1 constituency in Jamalganj upazila.

Local Awami League leader Md Shukkur, also a union parishad member, filed the case with Jamalganj thana early Tuesday accusing 35 named and 50 unnamed people, said Md Abul Hasem, OC of the thana.

Meanwhile, police arrested BNP leader Julfikar Rana in connection with the attack.

Miscreants torched the election campaign office of the grand alliance candidate Engineer Moazzem Hossain Ratan at Lalpur village in Sadar union of the upazila on Monday night.

In Satkhira, some unidentified miscreants vandalised and set fire to an election campaign office of AL in Patkelghata upazila town on Monday night.

A gang of miscreants hurled several crude bombs, vandalised and torched the office of AL candidate for Satkhira-1 constituency (Tala-Kalaroa) around 11:30 pm, said Pranab Gosh, deputy publication secretary of Satkhira district Awami League.

In Manikganj, BNP candidate for Manikganj-2 constituency Mianul Islam Khan Shanta claimed AL activists attacked his motorcade during electioneering at Harirampur upazila on Tuesday.
