Three traders sent to jail for assaulting DU students

A Dhaka court has sent three traders of the capital's Chandni Chowk to jail after end of their one-day remand in a case lodged for assaulting and attempting to kill two students of Dhaka University (DU) for protesting eve-teasing at the market, reports BSS.

The three accused are Nazrul Islam Milon, Md Chunnu Miah and Nazmul.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Jewel Rana passed the order on Wednesday as police produced the trio before the court after end of their remand and pleaded to keep them behind the bars until the end of probe.

Earlier on May 27, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shahin Reza placed the three accused on one day remand each.

According to the case documents, DU students Mohammad Sahedul Islam and Ayejur went to a shop at the Chandni Chowk market at around 8:00 pm on May 26.
