Travel ban on Rongdhonu Group owner, two sons

A Dhaka court has imposed a travel ban on Rongdhonu Group owner Rafikul Islam and his sons Mehedi Hasan Dipu and Kawser Ahmed Apu, reports BSS.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib issued the order on Monday, granting a petition filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The anti-graft body in its plea said it is probing allegations that the accused secured a Tk 100 billion loan from Islami Bank Bangladesh using forged documents, embezzled the funds, laundered the money abroad, and amassed illegal wealth.

"They may flee the country to evade justice, so a travel ban should be imposed on them without delay," it added.
