Travel ban slapped on Shahriar Alam, Sayeed Khokon, families, ex-Shilpakala DG Lucky

A Dhaka court has imposed travel ban on former state minister for foreign affairs Md Shahriar Alam, his wife Silvia Pervin and two sons Sadman Shahriar and Ahnaf Shahriar over graft allegations, report agencies.

Acting Judge of Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court Md Ibrahim Miah passed the order on Monday, allowing a plea of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

Investigation Officer (IO) and ACC Deputy Director Md Salauddin filed the plea while public prosecutor Mir Ahmed Ali Salam moved the petition before the court.

Shahriar and his family members are accused amassing illegal wealth of crores of taka

through corruption and misusing power. The ACC learned the accused are trying

to flee the country to evade justice and filed the plea to impose travel ban

on them.

Meanwhile, a Dhaka court has imposed a ban on foreign travel for former Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) mayor Mohammed Sayeed Khokon, his wife Farhana Sayeed, mother Shahana Hanif and brother Jabed Ahmed, report agencies.

Dhaka Metropolitan Session Vacation Judge Md Ibrahim Mia issued the order on Monday following a petition by the Anti-Corruption Commission.

ACC Deputy Director Masudur Rahman filed a petition seeking a ban on their travel, Meer Mosharraf Ali, legal counsel for the ACC, said. "I moved the court at the hearing as the ACC prosecutor. The court issued the order after the hearing," he said.

On the other hand, a Dhaka court has imposed a travel embargo on former director general (DG) of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Liaquat Ali Lucky and 23 others over their alleged roles in corruption in recruitment of various positions at the academy.

Acting judge of Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court Md Ibrahim Miah passed the order on MOnday, allowing a plea of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

ACC assistant director Mohammad Monirul Islam filed the plea, while its public prosecutor Mir Ahmed Ali Salam moved the petition before the court.
