Friday, 3 August 2007

Turkish government has contributed 100,000 dollars ($0.10m) to the Caretaker Government for relief efforts aimed at rehabilitating the victims of the devastating land slide that had recently occurred in Chittagong, reports UNB
The cheque of the amount issued in favour of the 'Chief Adviser's Relief and Welfare Fund' was forwarded by the Turkish Embassy to Fakhruddin Ahmed, the Chief Adviser, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Ambassador Ergin said that, in conformity with the spirit of existing deep rooted fraternal relations between the governments and the peoples of two countries, his government extended the assistance as the continuation of his government's contribution to the relief efforts of the Bangladesh government for alleviating the sufferings of the victims.
The Ambassador also said that the Turkish government had similarly contributed 100,000 dollars to Bangladesh in 2004 to relieve the devastation the floods had caused."
