$630m earned from exporting fish, fish products in 2013-14

Bangladesh earned a total US Dollar 630.24 million, up by 110.27 per cent over the target, from exporting fish and fish products in 2013-14 fiscal year, Fisheries and Livestock Minister Mohammad Sayedul Haque said Tuesday, reports BSS.
Replying to a question from treasury bench member M Abdul Latif (Chittagong-11), he said Bangladesh exports frozen shrimp, fish and fish products to different countries. Export Promotion Bureau's target of frozen food exports in 2013-14 was $578.77 million.
Responding to another question from Awami League lawmaker Nurunnabi Chowdhury (Bhola-3), the minister said according to the Animal Resources Depart-ment, there are 23.4 million (2.34 crore) cows, 1.45 million buffaloes, 32.06 thousand lambs and 25.4 million goats in the country.
