0.074m agro-inputs assistance cards distributed in Khulna

KHULNA, Sept 22: The distribution programme of agro-inputs assistance card among the marginal farmers is going slowly for the second time in Khulna. The card distribution programme started on August-5.
Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) said that the target was fixed to distribute 0.34 million cards to the farmers in 10 upazilas including Khulna city. Meanwhile, 0.074m cards were distributed in the second phase till Sunday. Agro-inputs Assistance Cards were distributed in 2010 for the first time. Sub-Assistant Agricultural Officers of Upazila are directed to make the Card distribution programme from door to door. The Agro-inputs Assistance Card holders get benefit those who are land owner and sharecropper.
Agro-inputs assistance card holders opened accounts in different agricultural banks at Tk. 10 only in 2010 and the farmers were given Tk. 1000/800 to as compensation for diesel.
It may be mentioned that 1,75,263 Agro-inputs Assistance Cards were distributed among the farmers in 2010 and the concerns expect that the target would be exceeded this year.
