0.15m law enforcers deployed to provide Eid security

Special security measures have been taken with deployment of around 0.15 million law enforcers across the country for maintaining the law and order and ensuring smooth celebration of the Eid-ul-Azha, reports BSS.
"Security measures have been stepped up across the country for smooth and peaceful celebration of the Eid-ul-Azha this year," said Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan.
"The law enforcement agencies have been asked to show zero tolerance in checking extortion, stopping raw hide smuggling, snatching, mugging, and other crimes," he also said, adding that at least 14 watch towers have been installed alongside with check posts at different strategic points to thwart all sorts of criminal activities.
"The stringent security measures have already in place with deployment of 0.135 million policemen, 10,000 Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) personnel, for keeping normal the law and order and making the Eid celebration smooth and peaceful," said a police official. Alongside with the police and RAB personnel, a total of 1,056 Ansar personnel were deployed to maintain law and order and railway police across the country.
For a smooth and jubilant Eid celebration, RAB, police and different intelligence agencies, both in uniform and plain clothes are active at different strategic points in the cities, including bus terminals, railway station, river-ports, launch and ferry ghats, to prevent any untoward situation.
Law enforcers in large numbers are now working to curb snatching, robbery toll collection from trucks of carrying sacrificing animals, the dope gang and other crimes. They are also monitoring buses, launches, trains, auto rickshaws, cars, micro buses and other vehicles at all strategic intersections in the big cities and its adjoining districts to thwart all kinds of criminal activities.
Several mobile teams are patrolling the big cities, cattle markets and vulnerable areas to maintain law and order. Law enforcers particularly RAB and highway police are monitoring on the highways for safe and sound journey of homebound people.
To make the security foolproof check posts have already been set up at different strategic points across the country, which are now being monitored by the law enforcers round the clock. Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has taken area-wise security measures with deployment of additional forces of over 10,000 law enforcers.
"The security measures have been taken two days before Eid, which will remain effective until the capital returned to normalcy after the Eid festival," a DMP official said.
