0.18m BO accounts shut for not renewing

Over 0.18 million (188,000) Beneficiary Owners (BO) accounts including some companies’ accounts were closed as the account holders did not renew those within June 30 this year. According to current regulations, the account holders have to pay Tk500 to brokerage house authority which will be given to the Central Depository Bangladesh Limited (CDBL) within the given time. However, CDBL sources said there were more than 3.22m (3223,000) BO accounts till June 25 which go down to 3.35m (3035,000). Among them, 2.9m (29 lakhs) were of general investors, 0.14m (1.40 lakhs) were of expatriate Bangladeshis and 10,299 were company accounts. CDBL shut the accounts following receiving the list from the Brokerage House Authority of account holders who did not renew accounts within June 25, according to a news agency.
