0.3m to sing nat\\\'l anthem tomorrow

More than 0.3 million people will converge on the National Parade Square at Old Airport in Tejgaon in the city on Wednesday morning to sing the national anthem together on the occasion of the national Independence Day. Three hundred thousand people will sing “Aa’mar Sonar Bangla, Aami Tomaae Bhalo Basi” in a chorus. Dubbed, “Lakho Konthe Sonar Bangla,” the chorus is expected to set a record. Organisers said the event is aimed at having Bangladesh’s name in the Guinness Book of World Records. It is open to everyone above the age of 13, who wishes to participate and sing the anthem, they informed. Armed Forces Division of the Prime Minister’s Office is arranging the event on the occasion of Independence Day. It said in a statement though the programme is expected to begin at 11:00am tomorrow, people without any prior registration have been asked to come to the venue from 6:30am onwards. They will be allowed in on a first-come, first served basis. They should not carry any bag, inflammable or sharp objects and weapons to the venue. The statement said the members of the armed forces will guide people enter and leave the vast Parade Square venue. Mirpur-10 intersection to Khejur Bagan beside the parliament building, Shyamoli Shishu Mela to Agargaon road, Parisankhan road, and Crescent Lake to Bijoy Sarani will be open to participants only from the morning of the Independence Day until the programme ends around noon. Ticket-free shuttle train service will be available from Joydevpur and Narayanganj. Arrangements will be made for shuttle bus service as well. Food court, hydrants or drinking water supply booths and toilets have been set up at different points of the venue. Bangladesh Television and private TV channels will broadcast live the programme along with performances of eminent artistes of the country, the statement added, according to a news agency.
