1 arrested with gold bars at Shahjalal

Armed Police Battalion (APBn) personnel arrested a middle-aged man along with four gold bars weighing 400 grams at Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) International Airport in the city on Thursday. The arrestee was identified as Mamun Ahmed, 49. Senior assistant superintendent of APBn Alamgir Hossain Shimul said a flight of Malaysian Airlines landed at the airport around 12:00am. Mamun came to Dhaka by the ‘MH196’ Flight. Before completing Customs formalities Mamun was suspiciously roaming in Green Channel zone. A team of APBn challenged Mamun in canopy-1 area of the airport after he passed the Green Channel around 2.00am and recovered the gold bars worth Tk 2 million searching his body, according to UNB.
