FE REPORT
A man was killed and two others injured on Saturday when part of a building collapsed during demolition near an under-construction site at Purba Raja Bazar, close to Square Hospital in Dhaka.
The deceased, 60-year-old Abul Hossain, was the caretaker of the old building and hailed from Pirojpur district.
Police said the two injured construction workers, Mohammad Miraj and Hafizur Rahman, were rescued by locals and rushed to hospitals. Miraj was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, while Hafizur is undergoing treatment at the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic  Rehabilitation (NITOR).
The collapsed structure was a small shop with an old boundary wall, about 50 feet long, adjacent to an under-construction building, according to witnesses. The wall caved in suddenly while people were nearby. Locals claimed it had been in a vulnerable condition for a long time.
Sub-Inspector Mehedi Hasan of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station told the Financial Express that Abul Hossain's body has been sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital for post-mortem, and legal procedures are underway.
