1 dead, 60 injured in AL turf war in Comilla

A turf war between two factions of Awami League in Comilla has left one dead and at least 60 injured. The clash occurred at Titas Upazila’s Kolakandi Bazar on Friday afternoon, killing Riazul Karim Sentu, 42, an activist of Kolakandi Bazar union unit of AL. Titas police station OC Tarek Md Abdul Hannan said Kolakandi Union AL's incumbent president Bahar Nasir and former president Ibrahim Mia were at loggerheads for long. Quoting witnesses, he said Nasir and Mia’s supporters, armed with homemade weapons, clashed around 2pm. Sentu died on the spot after being hit by a spear. Several shops in the market were damaged. Among the injured, 20 were admitted to different hospitals in Comilla, according to a news agency.
