1 dies, 2 fall sick after taking Isabgol drink

A woman died and two other people fell sick after taking drink prepared with Isabgol (a kind of herbal powder) in Dinajpur town on Tuesday. The deceased was identified as Dilara Jahan, 65, wife of Abdul Zabed of Uttar Kanchan Colony of the district town, while the sick were Julekha Begum, 60, and Moyna Begum, 40. Both Julekha and Moyna live in a rented house of Dilara. Sources said Dilara and her two tenants– Julekha and Moyna– felt sick after taking drinks made of Isabgol. They were admitted to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital where doctors declared Dilara dead. Officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station Altaf Hossain said a police team was sent to the spot after hearing the incident, according to UNB.
