1 dies, 2 others fall sick after having soft drink

A two-and-half-year-old boy has died after having ‘soft drinks’ from an abandoned bottle in Sirajganj. His elder brother was admitted to hospital after falling ill over the incident in a village of Ullaparha Upazila on Monday. The victim, Kamrul Hasan, died due to food poisoning, said medical officer Faisal Ahmed of the Sirajganj Sadar Hospital. Kamrul’s elder brother Nazmul Hasan, 7, was admitted to the Shahid Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital in Bogra in a critical condition. medical officer Faisal Ahmed said he had asked the members of the victims’ family to preserve the bottle for examination. Alufa Begum, the child’s mother, said her three children had found an abandoned bottle of soft drink near their house. They brought the bottle had drank from it along with their father, she said. The children fell ill right away and were rushed to the Sadar hospital. Kamrul died there around 8:00am. The other child Al Mamun, 10, returned home after being treated, according to bdnews24.com.
