1 dies in city wall collapse during storm

A man was killed and his wife injured during a storm in Dhaka city early Friday. The wall of an under-construction building collapsed at Sutrapur in Old Dhaka, killing Monoranjan Saha, 45. His wife Mitu Saha, 35, was critically injured, Sutrapur police station OC Khalilur Rahman said. Monoronjon’s nephew Sagar Saha said a wall of an adjacent seven-storey building collapsed on his uncle’s house during storm at night. The roof of his old one-storey building could not withstand the impact and caved in on the sleeping couple and their child, he said. Their two-year-old child was unharmed. Monoronjon and his wife were rushed to Mitford Hospital in critical condition hours later but doctors declared Monoronjon dead. Mitford doctor Abdur Rashid said Mitu Saha had sustained injuries to several parts of her body, according to bdnews24.com.
