1 dies in Gazipur road accident

A battery-run auto-rickshaw driver died in a road accident in Kaliakoir Upazila in Gazipur district on Saturday. Three passengers of the auto-rickshaw were injured in the crash. The victim, Fazal Mia, 30, was a resident of Kaliakoir. Kaliakoir Police Sub-Inspector Mohammad Ali Jinnah said the accident took place in front of the police station at Dhaka-Tangail Highway. The injured were ‘Saraswati’, 35, her daughter ‘Dulali’, 8, and son ‘Sonai’, 4. Sonai was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital while the others were treated with first aid. SI Jinnah said Saraswati was headed for a kindergarten school in the Upazila’s Latifpur area with her children on the auto-rickshaw when a ‘KP Paribahan’ bus rushed in from the opposite direction to hit it to injure them. The locals rushed them to Kaliakoir Upazila Health Complex where the driver died, according to a news agency.
