1 dies in Tongi crash, 8 injured

A man was killed and eight other people were injured when a bus skidded off road in Tongi Bazar area on the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway on Wednesday. Police identified the deceased as Nurul Islam, 50, an employee of Jatrabari Rahim Engineering Rolling Mill and an inhabitant of Kajla area under Jatrabari Police Station. A Narayanganj-bound bus from Takurgaon suddenly skidded off the roadside as its driver lost control over the steering, leaving Nurul dead on the spot and injuring eight others. The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) while the injured were undergoing treatment at different hospitals and clinics. Of them, Hossen Ali, 35, Farida Akhter, 32, Lutfor Rahman, 50, and unidentified one were admitted into DMCH with serious injuries, according to BSS.
