1 gets double life-term for abducting, raping girl

A Chittagong court has awarded a person two-times life term imprisonment in a case filed over abducting and raping a college girl in 2005. The convict Abduallah Al Noman hailed from Bakalia area of Chittagong city. Md Rezaul Karim, judge of Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-1, passed the order on Tuesday afternoon. The court also fined the convict Tk 0.1 million, said Jesmin Akhter, public prosecutor (PP) of the tribunal. According to prosecution, on September 10, 2005, the convict abducted the college girl from in front of Chemon Ara Academy of Chandanaish Upazila while she was returning home from the institution. The girl was raped in different places. Later, victim’s mother lodged a case in this connection. Police submitted the charge sheet on November 3, 2005, while the charges were framed on October 13, 2006.
