1 gets life, another 10 yrs\\\' RI for possessing Phensidyl

A court in Sylhet has sentenced a man to life term and another to 10 years’ rigorous imprisonment (RI) for possessing contraband drugs. Sources at the Special Sessions Judge’s Court said Faruq Ahmed, 27, son of Abdun Nur of Loharmahal village of Jokiganj Upazila of Syleht, was jailed for life for possessing 30 bottles of Phensidyl while Islam Uddin, 24, son of Abdur Rahman of Baligram village of the same Upazila was sentenced to 10 years’ RI for possessing 20 bottles contraband syrup. Judge Mainul Islam pronounced the verdict on Sunday afternoon in the two cases filed against them on December 5, 2012, under the Narcotics Control Act 1990, after their arrest from separate places with the drugs on Feb 18, 2012, according to a news agency.
