1 held with 28 gold bars at Shahjalal airport

Members of Customs Intelligence arrested a man and recovered 28 gold bars from his possession at Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Friday. Sources at the airport said, Md Abdul Latif, a Bangladeshi national, came here from Dubai by an aircraft of Emirates Airlines at about 8:14 am. When Latif was crossing the green channel of the airport, customs intelligence officials challenged him on secret information. Searching his body, they recovered 28 gold bars weighing about 3.26 kg, said Assistant Director of Customs Intelligence Mojibur Rahman. The market value of the seized gold is about Tk 14.7 million, he added, according to UNB.
