1 held with 6 gold bars in Satkhira

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested an alleged smuggler in possession of six gold bars weighing 60 tolas in Kolaroa upazila in Satkhira district on Wednesday. The arrestee was identified as Zakir Hossain, 27, son of Ramjan Ali, a resident of Keragachhi village in the upazila. Lieutenant Colonel Imam Ahsan, commanding officer of BGB Battalion-38, said tipped off, a BGB team intercepted a motorcycle Zakir was ridding in Keragachhi border area at about 10:30 pm prior to his crossing the Keragachhi border point into India. Later, the border guards after searching his body recovered the six gold bars. The estimated cost of the seized gold would be Tk 3 million, added the BGB official, according to UNB.
