1 held with foreign currencies at Shahjalal

A man was arrested along with foreign currencies worth Tk 2.5 million at Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) International Airport at Kurmitola in the city on Sunday. Customs officials identified the arrestee as Samir Hossain, 31, a Malaysia-bound passenger. Customs intelligence men detained him when he was going to Malaysia by a Biman flight. The currencies included 100,000 Saudi Riyal, 20,000 Dirham, and 2,000 Qatari Riyal. The arrestee, hailed from Comilla, was carrying the currencies to buy gold from Malaysia, sources at the Customs Intelligence Department said, according to private TV channels.
