1 held with Tk 5.24m foreign currency in city

Customs officials at Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) International Airport in the city arrested a young man along with 2,40,000 Saudi Arabian Riyal and 25,000 UAE Dirham on Monday night. The arrestee was identified as Jewel, 30. Assistant commissioner (customs) Ghulam Mustafa Kamal of the airport said Jewel’s flight was scheduled to depart for Singapore at about 10:30pm. The customs officials found the Saudi and UAE currencies searching Jewel when he was entering the airport’s passenger lounge through the Gate No-6 around 9:00pm, said Ghulam Mustafa Kamal. Total amount of the two foreign currencies in taka will be around Tk 5.24 million, according to UNB.
