1 injured in Cox\\\'s Bazar \\\'gun battle\\\'

A man was injured reportedly during a ‘gun battle’ between a gang of robbers and police in Cox’s Bazar on Monday. The injured was identified as Shafiqur Rahman, alias Shafique Alam, 35, son of Abul Hossain of Laarpara of Cox’s Bazar town. Police claimed that he was a gangster. Cox’s Bazar DB officer-in-charge Manjurul Alam said tipped off, a team of Detective Branch (DB) of police conducted a drive on Bypass Road in the district town early Monday when a gang of robbers was preparing to commit robbery. Sensing presence of the detectives, the bandits opened fire on them, prompting the law enforcers to fire back, triggering a gun battle. Shafique Alam was injured by bullet in the line of fire. Later, police arrested bullet-hit Shafique and admitted him to Chittagong Medical College Hospital, according to a news agency.
