1 killed, 17 injured in Sirajganj clash

A man was killed and 17 other people were injured in a clash between two rival groups in Atbangla village under Shahjadpur Upazila in Sirajganj district on Sunday afternoon. The deceased was identified as Mafij Uddin, 65, of the village. Locals said there was a long standing conflict between Abdus Sattar and Asadul of the village over the ownership of a piece of land. Sattar and Asadul engaged in an altercation over the issue in the afternoon, leading to a clash. The two groups attacked each other with sticks, brick chips and sharp weapons, leaving Mafij, a supporter of Asadul, hit in the head and instantly killed. At least 17 other people were injured in the hour-long clash. The injured were rushed to different local hospitals. Of them, two critically injured persons were shifted to Pabna Medical College Hospital, according to UNB.
