1 killed, 2 hurt in attack over nuptial proposal

A minor girl was killed and her mother and another sister were injured in an attack allegedly by her cousin at Uttar Badda in the city on Sunday, reports UNB. The deceased was identified as Subarna Rani Mridha (4), daughter of Bhabodesh Mridha, a carpenter of the news agency. Rina Rani Mridha (36), wife of Bhabodesh, said Manik, son of her sister, came to her house and proposed to marry her elder daughter Sushmita (12), a class VI student at a local school. An altercation ensued between Rina and Manik as his proposal was turned down. Being angered, Manik hit Rina and her two daughters Subarna and Swarna (3), with sharp weapons, leaving them critically injured at noon.
