1 killed, 3 injured in lynch mob attack

A group of unruly villagers beat a man to death and critically injured three others suspecting them to be ‘robbers’ in Gopalganj Sadar Upazila early Tuesday. The deceased was identified as Rahim Sarder, 40, a resident of Puronu Bazar under the Upazila. Witnesses said some people of Shuktail village raised a hue and cry around 2:30am, claiming that they caught ‘miscreants’ who came to the village to commit robbery. They caught four people who were going to their respective destinations from different other villages of the Upazila passing Shuktail village at that time. The mob gave them tremendous thrashing leaving one of them dead on the spot and three others seriously injured. Being inofrmed, police recovered Rahim’s body, according to a news agency.
