1 killed, 7 injured in Hatirjheel road crash

A teenage boy was killed and 7 other people were injured, three of them critically, as a pickup van overturned in Hatirjheel area in Tejgaon of Dhaka on the Eid day. The accident occurred around 1.00pm when the pickup van carrying 20 people mostly youngsters overturned at a turning in Hatirjheel on Saturday afternoon, Sub Inspector Mosharraf Hossain of Tejgaon Shilpanchal Police Station, said. Eight people were injured in the accident, he said, adding that the injured were rescued and rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where one Sumon, 15, succumbed to his injuries around 7.30pm. The condition of three others is stated to be critical. Sumon, son of vegetable trader Shafiquer Rahman, hailed from Sadullapur in Gaibandha district and was a resident of Madhubagh of Maghbazar in the city, according to a news agency.
