1 killed as fire breaks out in Dinajpur

An elderly woman was burnt to death and three others suffered injuries as a fire broke out at a house in Dinajpur municipal area on Monday morning. The deceased was identified as Mirijan Nesa, 75, wife of late Jabbar Ali, while the injured are Ajadul Islam, 55, son of Mirijan, his wife Rashida Begum, 45, and his daughter Sabina Yeasmin, 24, of Uposhahar area of the municipality. Sadar Fire Station senior officer Zakir Hossain said the fire originated from an electric short circuit at the house around 4:45am and soon it engulfed the adjoining houses. Informed, fire fighters rushed to the spot, doused the flame and rescued four people including Mirijan Nesa. The injured were admitted to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital where Mirijan succumbed to her injures. The extent of losses by the fire could not be ascertained immediately, according to a news agency.
