1 killed in BCL clash in Comilla

One person has been shot dead in a clash between activists of two factions of Bangladesh Chhatra League’s (BCL) Comilla unit. The infighting erupted into violence in the Munsef Barhi area in the district town around 1pm on Thursday, said Sadar Police Station OC Khorshed Alam. The deceased was identified as Ahsan Habib Samu, 35, the nephew of local MP AKM Bahauddin Bahar. The clash was between supporters of BCL leaders Saleh Ahmed Russel and Johirul Islam Rintu. Samu sustained bullet wounds when he tried to stop them. He was rushed to Comilla Sadar Hospital where doctors declared him dead, the OC said, according to a news agency.
